Mermaid Cove CT Snags

Hi everyone!  I have some new snags for you featuring the adorable mermaid kit "Mermaid Cove" by Creative Scraps by Crys.  This kit contains 96 elements and 18 papers and is perfect for all of your underwater tagging needs.  You can purchase this super cute kit at both Mystical Scraps here and Scraps & Company here.

My first set of snags use the adorable artwork of Caron Vinson.  After all, what goes better with an adorable mermaid kit than an adorable mermaid?  You can purchase her tubes at Creative Design Outlet here. 

My second set of snags is using the fantastic artwork of Joel Adams.  It seems that this piratess came across this poor crying merbaby with a chest full of treasure.  The only thing to be determined is if she will help the baby or help herself to the treasure.  This tube was originally purchased at CILM which is no longer selling tubes.  You can currently purchase Joel Adam's tubes at Creative Design Outlet here.

Leather Blinds Tutorial

 

This tutorial was originally written by me on February 3, 2005.  I'm feeling a little nostalgic for those old style tutorials that were my PSP roots, so I decided to dig those old tuts up.  I only ever wrote a couple of them.  It's a simple little tag, but I kinda like it.  I have to confess that I am still using the old screen shots.  :)

Supplies

Paint Shop Pro (I'm using version 9, but it should work in all versions.)

Tube of choice.  The one I'm using is by Caron Vinson and is used with license from CDO.  Please do not use this tube if you haven't purchased it.  You can purchase this tube here.

Flaming Pear Super Blade Pro here. (Optional)

M_coconut ice preset.  Sadly, I don't know where I originally got this from.

Font of choice.  I used Davenport.

1.  Open a new canvas 500 x 500 to give us a little room to work.

2.  Choose a color from your tube for your foreground color, and using your preset shape tool with the following settings, draw a square and center it on your canvas.

3.  Convert to raster layer and apply Effects>Texture Effects>Blinds with the following settings.

4.  Apply a drop shadow of choice.

5.  Choose a second color from your tube, and draw a second square about the same size.  Center in canvas.

6.  Rotate this layer 45 degrees to the right.

7.  Click in the middle of your shape with your magic wand, and apply Effects>Texture Effects>Fine Leather with the following settings.

8.  Select none and apply a drop shadow.  

9.  Add your tube as a new layer.  Resize as needed and add a drop shadow of choice.

10.  Crop your tag.

11.  Add copyright and name.  I used Super Blade Pro with the M_coconut ice preset on my name.

12.  Save as a JPEG or PNG.
