Mr Fright Tutorial

I've got another new tutorial ready for you today.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

What you need:
Paint Shop Pro.  I'm using version 9, but it should work with all versions.
Tube of choice.  The one I'm using is by PinupToons and is for use with license only.  You can find it at CDO here.
     Mura's Meister Copies
     Eye Candy 4000 (optional)
WSL Masks 246 and 286.  Here.
My "Mr. Fright" word art Here.
Font of choice.  I used one called Dementia.

OK...let's get started.  Open your tube, masks, and word art in PSP.

1.  Open a new image.  600 x 600.
2.  Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
3.  Go to effects>distortion effects>twirl and apply with 720 degrees.

4.  Repeat the twirl.
5.  Resize by 65% twice.  Resize all layers unchecked.
6.  Apply Mura's Meister Copies with the following settings.

7.  If your canvas is full, skip to step 9.  If not, duplicate your layer as many times as necessary and flip it, mirror it, and/or rotate it until your canvas is full of swirlies.
8.  Layers>Merge Visible
9.  Go to Layers>New Mask Layer>From Image and apply WSL Mask 246.  Source Luminance checked.
10.  Layers>Merge Group
11.  Resize by 65%.   Resize all layers unchecked.  Add a drop shadow of choice.
12.  Add a new raster layer and send to bottom.
13.  Flood fill with a fairly bright or light color from your tube.
14.  Layers>New Mask Layer>From Image and apply WSL Mask 286.  Source Luminance checked.
15.  Layers>Merge Visible.
16.  Resize by 75%.  Resize all layers unchecked.
17.  Make your top mask layer active and paste your tube as a new layer.   Add a drop shadow of choice.
18.  Activate your word art, and increase the canvas size.
19.  Add a drop shadow of choice to layers 3 and 4.
20.  Colorize layer 2 to suit your tube and duplicate it.
21.  On the duplicated layer, apply Texture Effects>Fur with the following settings.

22.  Change the blend mode on the fur layer to Hard Light and the Opacity to 70.
23.  Copy merged and paste onto your tag as a new layer.  Position where you like.
24.  Crop your tag and resize to your liking.
25.  Add copyrights and name.  I added a fat glow to my name.
26.  If you are not animating, save your tag at this time, and enjoy.

Animation
You might first want to add a white background layer.  Animation Shop likes to do funny things to GIFs with semi-transparent parts.
1.  Activate your bottom mask layer.  The one you created from a solid color.
2.  Duplicate twice.
3.  On the bottom layer, add noise at 25%, Gaussian, Monochrome.
4.  On the middle layer, increase the noise to 30%.
5.  On the top layer, increase the noise to 35%.
6.  Hide the top two layers and copy merged.
7.  Paste as new animation in animation shop.
8.  Hide the bottom layer and unhide the middle layer.  Copy merged.
9.  Paste after current frame in animation shop.
10.  Hide the middle layer and unhide the top layer.  Copy merged.
11.  Paste after current frame in animation shop.
12.  Save as a GIF.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial, and I would love to see your results.

Here are a couple more results.

Halloween Word Art

Today, I have a word art that I made for you.  Dark, one of the members in a group of mine, made a tag with this saying, and I loved the saying so much that I had to make a word art out of it.  So, thank you for the inspiration Dark.  Word art and glow are on separate layers.  If you would like to share my word art, please send your friends to my blog to get it.
Thanks!
